Spherical levitating chess board with magnetic chess pieces.

Does anyone have any helpful information about making a spherical levitating chess board with magnetic chess pieces? This is a project that I have been thinking about for a long time.

 

Levitation is possible with electro-megnetic principles.

A spherical board is possible with warped or many-sided tile shapes sort of like a soccer ball design.

Having chess pieces connect to the spots and be able to remain when rotated upside down, seems like it could only work if they were attached with a mechanical connector or with magnets.

Having game rules that cover starting positions and movement would be needed.

Maybe this could work for different sizes of globes and more than two players?

 

If you are interested in offering suggestions, ideas, methods of making this, materials, how it should look, electronics behind the functionality, etcetera... I would love to collaborate.

    Interesting Idea. I think you could levitate a square chess board. It probably wouldn't help to have magnetic chess pieces, they could be normal pieces.

    The idea is to have this floating orb that is the chess board and can spin in space, levitated in the air. Then move your chess pieces from spot to spot without them falling off when upside down.
