Helluva week here around AirborneSurfer Central! Made more progress on existing projects while adding new things to my to-do list!
Project Mego:
The 8-Track player is completely repaired and functioning normally! I'll have an overview of the steps I took to make the repairs in the element14 presents video when it debuts, but also look for the supplemental content showing the entire process of removing the track selector assembly, repairing the head bracket, and realigning the head to the correct tracks! Sometimes the simple answer is the best one....
Meanwhile, I've got some basic designs for the new components I'm adding scribbled down and parts are ordered, so I'll be wrapping this one up in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
VHS Time Capsule:
If you're familiar with my work, you'll know that I'm a bit of a junkie for vintage technology, including media artifacts from the popular culture of my childhood. My family were firm believers in time shifting, so we built quite a collection of VHS tapes with television broadcasts on them (which was how we avoided paid television until I was a teenager). Some years ago, I took it upon myself to digitize those tapes resulting in hours upon hours of television advertisements getting dumped on YouTube. That project fell by the wayside as newer, more pressing items captured my attention, but I decided to revisit the project in my quest to "close out old business" before moving on to new projects. I'll be posting to the VHS Time Capsule YouTube channel regularly for the foreseeable future, so please check it out if you're into that sort of thing!
