Wary of picking up hitchhikers? What about a robot trying to hitch a ride across Canada?
Researchers from Ontario have created a HitchBOT, a robot on a mission to hitch hike from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Victoria, British Columbia. As this article mentions, the robot was a brainchild of researchers at Ontario's McMaster University, who wanted to study how humans and technology can interact as well as create unlikely scenarios which would push the limits of robotics.
The robot has an Instagram, Facebook and a Twitter account as well to share its exploits with the world. The official website for the project also lists down instructions for drivers to help the hitch hiking robot.
Have you run across the robot? What adventures did you go on with this humanoid mechanical traveler?
