The Switch From Windows To Linux.

12 Apr 2017

I am writing this on April 11 2017. I've only ever had experience using windows as my operating system. I didn't even hear of linux until a month ago and recently decided to use the OS just to try it out getting different distributions (distros). I've tried Mint (cinnamon) and Zorin both are pretty great and easy to use. The experience I have with mint is pretty good but when I tried to install drivers for my AMD graphics card it wouldn't boot up the desktop environment and I would just install the OS again. Then at that point I tried Zorin and it looks pretty good and you have a lot of options on how your system looks, even gaming works pretty well. On both distros it takes just a bit longer to load things like steam and it's games. Some of the pros are the customization and performance once everything is set up right. Some of the really big cons is big developers aren't making things for linux (most of them anyway). Which can make it hard to do things if you've only ever used windows. I haven't gotten rid of windows and I can't really cause I keep my work on there but linux is very awesome. Also if you have any advice for this linux noob be sure to tell me any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Always nice to hear about a switch. I made the initial switch a long, long time ago, back in the days of Windows 95. Kind of ironic that I'm back on Windows right now, but things have changed for me. I…

Personally I think it would have been rude for me to take you up on your offer without payment. So no thank you, I just got my tax return so I will have money to get things I need. It does mean a lot to me that you would offer.

To JS. I went to www.frontierinternet.com., could Not tell whether it was DSL Or Not. AAR if you can verify that you have a DSL Modem and you have a Monthly Charge on your Frontier Bill , Then I can send you a DSL Modem. Just send your Shipping Address to me at: elyee@verizon.net.

High school sadly, getting to college soon. I was thinking either a welder or someone who designs electronics for companies. I would love to do anything with exploration though whether its our planet or the next. At the moment I'm using frontier for my ISP, so DSL. I get to move somewhere with slower internet speeds soon so yeah. Oh and also I just like ramen lol. Shrimp is the best!

Ah yes, College(?) Students and Ramen. Classic Combo. BTW1 a Tip: If you have left-over Flavoring Packets from the Ramen, mix the packets w/ Sour Cream. You have a Dip for those College Beer Parties. What is your course of Study? And at what school/college /university? AAR I have old Study/reference material that you might find useful. BTW2 Who is your ISP? College WiFi? Home DSL? Home Cable? or (like I have) Verizon FIOS. AAR I still have my old Cable Modem (for DSL) for the giving. IF you have DSL, I think you can return your Telco-provided DSL Modem and save on their Monthly Charge for Equipment. Just a Thought.

I wish I could afford something like that. That's a very heavy price, I've spent that much building pc's in the past. Like cereal and ramen noodles with a dash of coffee is what I survive off of.
