TI SimpleLink MCU Platform is released

TI has updated their SimpleLink offerings to bring the SimpleLink MCU Platform where the SimpleLink devices will be converged under a single platform and share the same tools across each device in the platform.

 

SimpleLink MCU Platform

 

This is listed on the TI website:

  • 100 percent code compatibility across SimpleLink MCU portfolio
  • TI Drivers offers standardized set of functional APIs for integrated peripherals
  • Integrated TI-RTOS, a robust, intelligent kernel for complete, out-of-the-box development
  • POSIX-compatible APIs offer flexible OS/kernels support
  • Encryption-enabled security features
  • IoT stacks and plugins to add functionality to your design

 

The devices listed in the SimpleLink MCU Platform are

  • MSP432 Host MCU
  • CC1310 Wireless MCU - Sub-1GHz
  • CC1350 Wireless MCU - Sub-1GHz + BLE
  • CC2640R2F Wireless MCU  -BLE
  • CC3220 Wireless MCU - Wi-Fi (New)
  • CC3120 Wireless Network Processor MCU (New)

 

New Features for the CC3x20x

  • 3 Variations of the CC3220x
    • CC3220R - 256KB RAM
    • CC3220S - 256KB RAM
    • CC3220SF 1MB Flash and 256KB RAM

   Both the CC3120R and CC3220x include the following new features

  • IPv6
  • Enhanced Wi-Fi provisioning
  • Enhanced power consumption
  • Enhanced file system security (supported only by the CC3220S and CC3220SF devices)
  • Wi-Fi AP connection with up to four stations
  • More concurrently opened BSD sockets; up to 16 BSD sockets, of which 6 are secure
  • HTTPS support
  • RESTful API support
  • Asymmetric keys crypto library

    Yes, computers were supposed to save us time an money, but I have found that every time I learn a new MCU, they come out with a better one. So I now spend all my time and money buying newer and better…

    That started with Intel's first entry in the microcomputer market. Keep innovating with new technology and getting the consumer to but into the next new processor. Who did they learn from? That would be big blue IBM. And they told IT you could never be fired following the marketing departments lead (you know the guys in the suits and ties.) image
