Want to build a web server (LAMP) and NAS... w/ (1) Raspberry Pi 3 and (4) Raspberry Pi Zero

How would I Partition the drive: if needed

Will I be able to resize the drive size back to 1.5Tb after installing the img file..?

I was thinking about a web server or NAS... I have an extra 1.5Tb Hard Drive I want to run with... (if web sever LAMP) -I was thinking about running a cluster super computer together... -this will include (1) raspberry pi 3 (new version 64) and (4) Raspberry Pi Zero (1) Cluster Hat for Raspberry Pi Zeros https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqcHj1DgAMM

My question is..? How many Partitions should I make for this build... + Please Note that I would also like to integrate Home Automation with 16 cameras...

Most likely I'll add another hard drive to the project (remote storage)...

or

should I just use (5) Raspberry Pi 3 64bit..?

thank you,

steven

Thanks Shabaz, that's what I've been working on for the past couple of hours... Later on down the road, I'll try to add a POE switch... Your right about the raspberry pi zero... it's not worth it... and…

getitdone I would strongly urge you to take shabaz advice and also rather stick with the Pi 3's for your project. They just keep on impressing me one way or the other. YV

    Hi Steven,

I don't think it really matters if you don't partition. The Pi doesn't have a drive interface, so presumably your drives will be USB attached.

The Pi's various file system slices will all be on the SD card. Your USB drive will be mounted as another file system in /mnt for whatever you wish to store (applications, data, etc).

Bear in mind that the Ethernet and USB is shared into the processor, so 16 USB cameras into it may be optimistic (but I've not tried it, this is a guess).

I think it would be worth you trying with just one Pi 3 first, to see how you wish to implement it, to see your web server performance, and so on. Then multiply out and replicate with additional Pi's (and possibly drives) as desired.

The Pi zero cluster thing doesn't gain you any advantages if your bottleneck is the USB interface for your application, because it is like having an additional 4 water taps connected to the same pipe.

    Thanks Shabaz,

that's what I've been working on for the past couple of hours... Later on down the road, I'll try to add a POE switch... Your right about the raspberry pi zero... it's not worth it... and defiantly not worth the wait, especially when the raspberry pi 3 is within arms reach... -every time they release the zero... -It goes like hot cakes...
