After a busy year of racing, I dedicated the past couple of months to friends and family. Reconnecting, laughing and generally being a family man were my priorities. What a great time! Somewhere during this time, my time off the bike came to an end and I began prep for 2011. As we role into the heart of Holiday season I am deep into training here in snowy Montana, soaking up those last continuous hours with my two ladies before travel season begins. I am excited for the comming year for many reasons. Here is a glimpse into my world over the past few months.
Elite Track Nats were my last race of the year. Not my finest race of the season, largely due to the fact I had not expected to race Elite Nats and had shut down training, but it was an honor and I will be back prepped for next year.
After Nats I spent a few days in the Mountains chasing wild things; a camera in hand this year though.
While I was given the freedom to take some time off the bike for a few weeks, I was chomping at the bit to hit the dirt...plus I was not about to miss the boy Fall biking trip.
This year has been a lesson in sacrifice...one that is most apparent in the time I spent away from my ladies. We made up for lost time this fall.
I figured you can never start too young to introduce Amelia to cycling.
Then just as my training started to fire back up it happened...winter.
Amelia seemed to enjoy the snow...she is too young to understand the plight of her dad I guess.
Most of all I have used this time to reflect on just how fortunate I am. Despite the sacrifices, struggles and unknowns I am blessed to have amazing friends and family that support and believe in me, many times beyond my grandest imagination. A big thanks from the Kavanagh's rest up...we have a big year ahead of us.
