Hi all,
I was able to attend the second faire held over 5/6 August and had a great time.
As it is new, the Faire is still trying to find a mix of demonstrations, booths and information.
There was definitely more food vendors this year, last year there was just one place to get snacks and it is clear that the public wanted more.
Here are some of the pictures I took this year.
The main presentation tent had a nice pixilation display for the kids to walk up to and see themselves in a one bit presentation.
There was a group that does custom car builds.
This guy uses 3D printers and CNC to make motor and steam powered bubble machines.
Take a look at this intricate planetary gear system he made out of wood using a CNC.
Here is a replica of the vintage Bat Mobile.
How about a custom Batcycle!
Ran into this group that conduct radio controlled ships in combat. Needless to say, I passed on a card for my World War II Sea War series.
Just look at the detail of these ship models. These guys are serious!
I liked how they put a bunch of exhibits in the old carriage display. Few people remember that many of the custom railroad passenger carriages were made in Dayton, Ohio.
Exhibits included science experiments, a place where you could see NASA exihibits, have your picture taken with a space suit or they could even put your face inside the ISS.
There were also an interesting mix of dress making, Cosplay, home weaving, fancy embroidery machines and so much more.
I stopped by the local HAM radio group and purchased a Software Defined Radio for just 10 USD. I had been wanting to play with one and at that price, I just had to pick one up.
Overall, the Faire was better this year and they certainly had a good crowd this year. The weather was perfect again this year, so I look forward to next year.
If you get a chance or just find yourself in the area at the right time, come by and take a look.
