Keyboards, Keyboards, and more... a trip down the past (dim)...

Why am I using the old image in this blog? Well, I'm going back to the dim past about a year or so before I got my job at Interdata. To the year 1975 in the past, we had a magazine called , they had an article by Carl Helmers, entitled: Deciphering Mystery Keyboards which I have enclosed. ~~ Cris H.

I was a subscriber to BYTE for many years.

It was a very interesting period back then as the first microcomputers hit the market and lots of variations of hardware became available for use.

dougw YES! and the ones in EDN (RIP) were wonderful, I used to get most of my Miller-Stephenson chemicals I got that way. ~~Cris H

I do remember them but never used them. The main thing to do was to get a free subscription to Computing and Computer Weekly: easy enough when I first started out, but then they started limiting them to "certain job titles" and then "only post to a company address", the former requiring a bit of exaggeration and the latter resulting in lost copies. Sadly no longer produced but we have a near complete collection at The National Museum of Computing. I can't remember if we have a collection of Byte magazines as well: due to space constraints there was a recent exercise to cull periodicals that are available on line.

My company paid for subscriptions to magazines like Byte, Electronics and PC Magazine and I devoured them instantly, circling a few dozen bingo card numbers on the way.

How many people remember using those magazine bingo cards?. Those bingo cards resulted in me receiving a stack of mail every day that was over 12 inches high.
