Welcome to my blog!
This is where I will be writing everything to do with my Summer of Design project for the XL_STAR development board from element14.com.
My plan is to build a charge controller which maintains a battery using a solar panel, and dumps excess energy into some other useful load (lights or fans, for example).
Extra parts required include a solar panel (which I have), and a battery (for which I intend to use a portable power pack), as well as some kind of light or fan as the secondary load for when the battery is fully charged. I'll likely need some kind of relay or such to route power correctly. And some kind of display will be nice. I have a cabinet full of various bits and pieces I hope will work for this.
Details to figure out:
1. Read battery voltage
2. Show battery voltage and charge status on the display
3. routing of power to primary (battery) and secondary (light or fan) loads.
4. Read solar panel voltage
I will build separate applications for each of the above before combining them all into one final project.
Yes, sadly I couldn't figure out a way to include the accelerometer in this somehow...
Cheers,
