I know that a lot of Element14 members also belong to the Hackster.io community, but I thought this might be of interest to others that may not have seen this.
On July 25 at the Google Next Conference, they announced two new AIY Project boards that will use Google Edge TPU ASIC for Machine Learning applications. The claim is that it "may significantly outperform" the Intel Movidius hardware that is used in the current AIY Vision kit.

Looks very interesting but won't be available until the fall. No pricing or distribution information yet. The base board is remarkably Pi-like.
