I've become a project...

12 May 2021

A few weeks ago after completing the 2 week waiting period after my second Pfizer Covid vaccination, I went to donate blood for the first time since the pandemic lockdowns started.  To my surprise, I failed the donor screen due to an irregular heartbeat.  Surprising only because I've donated over 10 gallons of blood without any issues.  Anyway, I went to the doctor for a checkup and an EKG and now I'm doing a 24 hour test with a Holter ECG monitor.

It's interesting (or ironic) because I've recently been working on building an oximeter and heart rate monitor based on the MAX30102 sensor.  I've currently just gotten the pulse rate part working using a SparkFun Pro Micro RP2040.

So, once again life converges...   There's some probability that the irregular heartbeat is caused or aggravated by stress, so while I'm not going to stop working on projects - I'm not going to work on anything with a specific commitment or deadline.  Hopefully, this problem will go away or at least improve.  In the meantime, I can at least build something to monitor it image.

And yes, it must also be interesting for you to use your own project to add more insights image

    Hi Ralph,

Waiting for results is always stressful. Once they get me stable the phlebotomies will decrease to a less frequent level. I am looking forward to that. The condition is chronic and I will just have to deal with it until something more serious comes along and gets me. In the big scheme of things it is a minor inconvenience. Let me know how your tests come out.

    John
