Webinar with the team

I can guess everyone at E14 is working flat out with the new site, iterating through bugs and enhancements.  However, I got to thinking that it could be useful to have a webinar with representatives from E14 management and technical team, et al, to discuss work underway, issues, ideas, roadmap, workarounds and tips for usage (italicised for emphasis.)  There could be a bit on what is/is not possible to achieve through configuration of Verint (I'm a big fan of configuring packaged software rather than customising it, particularly when users essentially get it for free.)  A recent webinar had interactive polls during the event which you could use to elicit feedback on areas that the team may want help in prioritisation of features for users and also to avoid the potential of being overwhelmed by questions in the Q&A dialog.

    Great news , .  I gave some ideas on my original posting with one idea emphasised!!  Some more specific ideas:

    • I'm still struggling to find new content once it disappears off the home page.  By new content, I mean new blogs or forum posts, not comments.  It's possible to get a longer list by looking at the sitemap page but that's not an ideal approach really.  This means that content that would otherwise be of interest to me is just not on my radar unless I get to see it quickly.  Posting has been down recently, presumably because of the holidays, but once it picks up, then it's likely content is missed.
    • Interesting content rapidly disappears off the home page even when comments are being added.  If I'm subscribed to the post, e.g. by commenting on it myself, I get notifications so can click on that email.  Otherwise, unfortunately, it gets lost in the noise and it becomes more onerous to find it than it used to be.

    It would be useful to go through some scenarios for the above (finding 'lost' or 'unknown' content) with tips for doing this.  I'd be sympathetic to hearing about the difficulties the team is having with the new platform - i.e. stuff that isn't really under your direct control.  For example, my main consumption device for E14 is my iPad: I'm finding it hit-and-miss whether I can respond to anything as editing seems to come and go and if I'm away from my computer, I can't get involved.  This feels like a platform problem not a development one.

    As for open requests for ideas, that could be difficult as you'd likely get a thousand-and-one that people would like to see.  I.e. I'd definitely like to see an 'all content' page, by content type, which just showed original postings (not comments) and that was ordered in descending 'date modified' order (date modified being updated from the post creation or editing, or a comment being added to it.)  

    Instead, it may be easier to see if it is possible for viewers to help you prioritise your backlog that you have devised through a poll or polls.  Bug fixes should always be high priority but feature changes are ideal for this approach.

    TBH, I'd be happy if just a roadmap of feature changes, known issues being worked on and tips-and-tricks for getting more out of the new site were covered.  That could easily be an hour!

    I'm not sure how we can directly address that from a 'this is a question, here's an answer' perspective. At the moment the main issue with anything regarding to content and it being listed is the 'jobs server' and it refreshing the content in the widgets.

    Realistically we can't make that move any faster than we are already attempting to, and when we know that's working how it should, or at least we're in a state with the platform provider where we know what we have to do to work with it, then we can look at "well can we improve these widgets?"

    The development team is very well experienced at prioritising their backlog. A lot of fixes have already gone in which as a user, you may not have directly seen the benefit of, mainly because the website hasn't been responding, but has gradually been fixing elements such as achievement functionality, quizzes, roadtests, etc.

    The development team have visibility of the forums and see the complaints and feedback members raise, has been responding to a number of them, and I also give feedback directly.

    Have you seen the sitemap page?

    This goes back to being limited as to what the platform lets us do, too.
