When you create a URL in a blog, you have the option to let it load in the current window, or open a new window. This is excellent.
A user doesn't see this when they read a post. Both variants look like a hyperlink.
Several websites, e.g.: Wikipedia, show a little icon at the end of a post that opens a new window:
My suggestion is to ask the forum vendor to implement the same as an improvement.
