I got this email: There is an issue with your user account on element14 Community

Hi,

I just signed up for an element14 Community. I had not got chance to use it or post anything yet BUT I got an email stating the following:

There is an issue with your user account, wavesailor: The user was identified as abusive by community members.
Please help us keep the community safe and enjoyable for everyone. If you feel this identification was in error, please let us know. You can use this form to appeal the finding before 10 Sep 2023 10:13 AM, and we'll promptly review it.

I filed an appeal and stated it was a brand new account and I had never used it yet. Please can you assist and help resolve this.

    Hi Grant,

    The details you've provided don't appear to match the account you're passing along details for on the feedback and support report form, this is suspicious. It's difficult to ensure that you're the owner of the account if we can't guarantee that profile information matches or that the user's e-mail address has/hasn't been compromised.

    We've had a spat of registrations on the element14 Community where we've managed the account via the moderation system and had users get in touch saying "I didn't register for this account even though it's using my e-mail address, please delete it", hopefully, you understand the stance I'm coming from here.

    If the account is genuinely yours, I'd advise that you register for another account with a different e-mail address and fill out the profile information so that it's easier to recover it and/or prove ownership.

    Thanks for the reply. I don't want to use a different email address. I still don't understand why it cannot be approved? Why can't you let me verify I own the email address as that is the way most other sites in the world do this? This just does not make any sense to me.

    At this point, I cannot confirm you are the owner of the account that you have provided information for as the details do not match.

    If you are the owner of the account, then please make sure that the profile information on the account is correct.

    Thanks for the reply.

    How can I make sure the profile information on the account is correct. When I log in, I immediately get this:

    Account Not Approved

    You have not been approved to access this community.

    You have my email address and other info - Is the not enough to confirm?

    On this occasion we're not going to continue this, your "other info" provided does not match the account details.

    The account will remain locked and considered compromised, we cannot hand over accounts when information does not match, please consider this when creating an account on the site in future.

    You can register for a new element14 Community account using a different e-mail address and make sure you have fully filled in the correct information that's requested, such as your full first name and last name.
