(I can't comment on the previous discussion because it's locked).
I had a question regarding this comment, regarding the bolded bits:
Hi shabaz,
This was raised before, but no real resolution.
Thank you for your patience; to let you know that we are keeping track of it, you have raised it before on RE: Unusable images when downloaded and on Image quality is poor on _every_ blog pre-Verint - we auto lock threads in feedback and support to reduce anonymous spam posts, and I go back and unlock them when there're updates to be made as I copy the thread into dev' tickets to go back to.
I think Verint may advise how to do it, since their software messed it up in the first place.
We worked with a third-party contractor to move content over to Verint, and with the short time frame given to do it, this was overlooked/missed.
I have a couple of tickets open with the development team on this, one is to investigate the extent of the 'damage' and then the other is to enact a solution based upon that. There are considerations to be made here:
1. The original files are on a server which is to be decommissioned, when it is done so, we will not have the ability to recover those original images, there is no date on this at the moment aside from 'soon'.
2. We're assessing how much effort it will take to recover the images, and I have done some effort with the dev team on this today.
3. How long it will take to do it and when, and mapping those across from Jive to Verint.
4. We have the original images.
I do not have answers to all of these right now, but I wanted to let you know that it is still in our queue.
That bolded "soon" part is alarming, given that there's no information on progress with the issue. This makes it all the more urgent. Not sure that 'damage' should be in quotes, it's definitely significant damage, affecting many years of the site content, and the contributors, and the readers who visit those pages.
Just wish to make this absolutely clear how serious it is (is it being taken seriously?).
