In our third site update of 2024, due for deployment on the 4th April 17:00 CDT, we have a number of improvements and bug fixes which you may be interested to know about. There are plenty of others that are less obvious, won't impact you directly, or affect things behind the scenes, but I'll list out the ones I believe you'll be most interested in.
- The RoadTest (and other) entry forms have been changed so that we can have a more dynamic right-rail, which should help us put useful information for applying in there. We've also fixed the Cancel button which wasn't working.
- Email notifications for a RoadTest can now include the correct name & URL to the content; they had limited use before this fix.
- An additional layer of protection has been added to the site which looks at your IP address' Reputation. This is independently scored & shared amongst other sites, not just ours. Using this means the site is less likely to be taken offline by high levels of traffic from bots & scrapers
- On mobile, the Google Translate toolbar ended up getting in the way of the main site navigation, so we've moved it to the bottom of the screen. It's actually a feature built into a lot of browsers, so may be something we end up removing in the future, but we'll assess usage levels & see.
- Lists of Blog Posts sometimes showed a thumbnail that wasn't the correct aspect ratio; that's now been fixed
- There's now a T-Shirt Size option on the user profile page that you can fill in; our team can use that for any giveaways :)
- For site Registration, the First & Last Name fields now prefers users to enter their full names rather than 1 character. This helps encourage members to enter their real names.
- Our last release triggered a re-processing of all Document Previews (the one where you see a PDF in a viewer).. due to the volume of content, this takes some time & has completed in the past week
Over the coming months we're focusing our efforts on training some new team members. Regular releases will then resume later this year. In the meantime, we're still here to address any urgent issues you might encounter.
Sincerely,
The element14 Development Team
