What Is This About?
Several of you have offered amazing expert advice to your fellow members who are new to electronics or looking to beef up skills in a new technology area, product or when you get stuck in the middle of the latest project. Likewise, many members have posted questions for projects and searching for advice from members who've been in your shoes before.
This document looks to serve a need to connect people who need mentors with those are looking to mentor. This is a place for members inexperienced and/or skilled to come together and learn from each other and share expertise.
Where To Begin?
To find a mentor/mentee, comment on the document with what you're looking for below. Likewise, if you find a post that matches what you are looking for, respond to the comment and connect with each other on the Community. Finally, please include in your comment the method you might like to interact with your mentor/mentee. We suggest using the Community as there are so many options to communicate here. For example, you could start a private discussion (then you have the option to open it up to others if you decide to do so), secret or private groups are an option as well - or you could just add the member as a connection and communicate via Messages in your Inbox.
For example - here's what you might post:
Looking for Mentor: I'm a student at XYZ school in Canada in my last year of graduate school. I am looking for someone who has experience with IoT to bounce ideas off of for a senior project. Here's a link to my blog post on element14 Community about my project: [link to blog]
Looking for a Mentee: I am a retired engineer with expertise in embedded and industrial automation looking to share my expertise. I have roughly 2 hours per week to devote. I prefer to mentor via the Community through Messages or private discussions.
We are looking forward to connecting several mentors with mentees on element14 Community! Please share any feedback about the program with element14support or nlarson
