Help Us Improve the Community!

Happy New Year indeed to everyone in the community. I hope you were all able to enjoy some time off to eat amazing food, spend time with friends and family, and perhaps take a moment to go through our 2017 Year in Review posts.

 

Having had some time to reflect on my short tenure with element14 (I'll hit my one year anniversary at the end of February), I regret that I never did a proper intro post, so it's on my to-do list for this year. But for now: Hello element14 Community! My name is Mindi and I'm a senior manager of community (yes, this one!) and content (so much content!) at element14. The wonderful , , and are all members of my team and I sit over the wall from , trying to keep from eating the candy that sits at her desk. I actually peruse the community quite often, though I rarely post, as I prefer to be in stealth mode and let my team do their thing. While most of you don't know me very much, I know a lot of you already through your RoadTests, Design Challenge updates, Project14 submissions, and your amazing advice and help to newcomers and established community members. I'm happy and excited to be a part of the community, and hope to continue learning more this year. Perhaps enough that this is the year I make use of all the wonderful resources here to build my own project!? Stay tuned on that one.

 

Now, on to the main purpose of this post! Just like many of us make resolutions for the New Year to improve and better ourselves, we are also looking at ways to improve and better the community in the coming year. In order to do so, we want to test out some new features and actually talk to some of you! If you're open to it and can spare the time, please help us out by filling out the survey below.

 

There will be a few starter questions that will help us to select some of you to schedule an interview with this month. As a thank you, those selected from the pool of applicants will receive a $100 Amazon gift card. I believe the survey says it's $25, but we've since bumped this up to $100 so believe in me, who believes in you and fill out the survey!

  • Congratulations on surviving your first year at Element 14.

    The survey did a reasonable job of capturing the basics needed for some demographics analysis.

     

    Every year we go through this exercise and there are always good ideas proposed.

     

    I have to say, the Project 14 idea has gotten off to a good start, though I think we should handicap the TM participation so that more attention is brought on new posters.

    We still need to encourage new members without making them  feel inadequate by the superior posts of the experienced people.

     

    I also like the new people brought in by the challenges.  We have found some very talented people with these.
