  • Wire in place of solder. A trick that was played on both apprentices and new employees alike was to take their solder roll and wrap a layer of thin wire around it the same diameter of the fine solder (think picture hanging wire). When you tired to solder, applying the soldering iron to the wire to tin it, or to apply some solder to the board, the thin wire would heat up, burning the fingers holding the wire, eliciting a scream form all those who fell for it. So, the worst tool is wire in place of solder.

    Never did that but try this: in the day of tubes take an axial charge it to 200 - 300 volts and then toss it at somebody and say "hey catch!" LOL, or there where soo many tricks we used to pull the list is endless, same power supply Hot chair now that will get your heart pumping.  or smoke through a straw, into somebody's project. Now that get there attention real fast. Or in New Jersey when the Yanks where playing in the World Series, well I wanted to go. Now we had this German teacher (her nickname was Frau Brown, Hitlers whatever), and I proctored in physics and chem (high school) I was cleaning up the lab and there was some Sulfur laying around. So what do you think? Yup, I crushed it, and made a nice powder out of it. walked over and picked up a piece of glass tubing put some flame on it, twisted in the center and let it cool. Next, I tossed in the powdered Sulfur, and put some heat on the end on twisted it closed, then I walked over to the Acid table and grabbed some H2SO4 and add it to the other end, and then heated and twisted it closed as well.  Next, I trimmed it down to about 6", bubble gum and put in the hinge. Now can anybody tell what H2SO4 + S = H2S = rotten eggs! So when she would say "Morning Kinder, Closen das Windows, and Closen das door!"  Oh well, one week expelled, went to NYC lived with my aunt down on 23 st. and did my HW and when to my Great Aunt way uptown on Post Ave,  and when to the game!
