Join Avnet's Digital Council - First 20 Receive an Amazon Gift Voucher

image

Avnet believes that users play a pivotal role in guiding Avnet’s digital strategy - from our online presence in our Communities, Social Media to our online stores of Newark, Farnell and Avnet.com, and we would love to have you join our Digital Council to help chart that strategy to better serve you, our customers.

As a member of the Digital Council, you will be among an exclusive group of users who have unparalleled access to Avnet’s digital roadmap for designing and giving feedback on the design and interface for our online stores, thought-provoking topical discussions and a token of appreciation for your time, among other perks. Initially this will be distributed via e-mail, though it could expand in the future to a private group on the element14 Community to engage with other users and Avnet staff.

The monthly time commitment to the Digital Council is typically less than 30 minutes for your feedback, and ongoing participation is optional but appreciated!

If you’re interested in joining the Avnet.com Digital Council, please click the 'Sign Up Now' button below and we’ll contact you regarding membership. We will also offer you the opportunity to participate in our first main study for the Council which is testing the re-design of the new Avnet.com home page which is scheduled to launch in June.

The first 20 who sign up and complete the study will receive a $50 Amazon gift voucher. The Avnet team will reach out to the winners via e-mail. Some terms and conditions may apply, they will be attached to this document.

This opportunity is now closed.

I was recently contacted and told they had already filled their list of twenty, but that they would put my name on the list for commenting on issues in the future. DAB

That sounds interesting - especially as Avnet seems to cover a lot these days.

These details are being passed along to the relevant team on a weekly basis, so if you haven't been reached out to it's likely because you're caught in between the data 'dumps'.

    Same.

    I don't mind sharing a single window.

Full desktop is definitely out, for client confidentiality reasons.

I haven't heard from Avnet so I assume "I'm not in". I don't mind as I wouldn't want to share my desk top anyway. I'm not that keen on sharing my email either, but if I don't I find I don't get any emails. It's a conundrum.

FWIW - I went through the process this morning. I'm not sure if we're really allowed to say much about the content (yes, I uncovered a few broken things) but the process was fine enough. I do understand the hesitation of sharing desktops (I don't like it either), but Microsoft Teams (like Zoom) also allows you to share just an app window (i.e. the browser) so that other parts of your desktop (e.g. wallpaper, taskbar, running apps, etc) aren't visible to the other end, even if the app were to close, minimise, get dragged around, etc. Unfortunately, Microsoft Teams screen sharing doesn't work on Edge (the browser that Microsoft recommends) and I couldn't get it to connect via the official Microsoft Teams client as well (I have that connected to work), so I had to use Google Chrome in the end.

I have done this yesterday evening.

The message is a bit confusing. They ask you to share your desktop, just as we always do when in a conference we want to show our data to the audience.

It was just me sharing my screen so they could see how I interacted with the page. Nothing sinister. It even helped find a bug in the page rendering.

I was offered in but when I saw from their email that they wanted to "share my desktop" I declined.
