FARNELL’S RIDE FOR RESEARCH
Driving innovation that powers change and improves the lives of people living with epilepsy.
Thanks to Fred27 for being eagle-eyed with this one - yes it's official. Employees of Farnell - and that can include members of element14 Community staff, are raising money for charity!
Between the 12th and 18th of October while sensibly socially distancing, either at home or in their appropriate neighbourhoods, staff from Farnell are physically travelling the collective equivalent distance of 4,000 miles!
This is involving members of Farnell from our warehouses to any other members across the business working from home and in the office to contribute together on the Strava platform.
You can sponsor the Farnell staff on the JustGiving page setup by Katie Lawal
Members of staff joining in may be recognisable by wearing the Epilepsy Research UK cycle jerseys and t-shirts:
These are still available to show your support.
Why are we doing this?
Farnell has been raising funds for Epilepsy Research since 2003. It all came about when Farnell’s then CEO, John Hirst, tragically lost his 21-year old son to SUDEP (sudden unexplained death due to epilepsy).
This was devastating for John and his family, and a huge shock to the Farnell community.
Since then, Farnell has raised an incredible £174,000 through our Annual Golf Days, which we’ve had to cancel this year due to COVID-19.
How's it going so far?
As of the 25th of September the Farnell team have started early and they're currently at 895 miles with 3,105 miles to go!
