What’s your favorite TV series?

As Engineers, we can’t help but spot any technical mention in our every day’s lives from our favorite TV series, especially the ones that are more ‘technology related’ - anyone spotted the Raspberry Pi mention on Mr. Robot’s fourth episode of the first season? So we wonder, what are your favorite (‘tech’ or not so ‘tech’) series? Vote for your favorite one and use the comment box to discuss any other which is not on the list.

You're right David! Apart from the original British version, there was an American one - which one you like most?

    A Few Now Expired Series:

    1) Showtime Series "Penny Dreadful" - 3 Seasons

A Serialized Version of " The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"

Has Vampires, Werewolves, Monsters, Zombies in a "Period" Piece

    W/O falling Prey to Cliches

    2) HBO Series "The Leftovers" - 3 Seasons

Which I want a Good Cry, I play the Final Episode of the 3rd Season.

    3) STARZ Series "Counterpart" -  2 Seasons (just concluded Feb 2019?)

Like Tom Clancy in the Sci-Fi Genre

    4) HBO Series "The Night Of" - Season 1

The First Scene of the First Episode - shows a Math Class.

What is Wrong Here? You get a Clue in a much Later Episode.

Unbelieveable. Anybody who had Math beyond Calculus (like

Higher Math for Engineers) should like this Gaffe.

Is never heard of Halt and Catch Fire. I shall definitely give it a go though.

For anyone who liked The Office, Ricky Gervais's latest series After Life is a real gem.

Anything historical or educational, if you've ever wondered who they really make documentaries for, I'm that guy!! and I'm sorry you had to sit through them at some point in your life.

I still watch to see if I can solve any of the white board problems.  I first started when I spotted Feynman's  description of time travel. Then when I read about it, I found out the Physics consultant uses the white boards to post problems for his grad students, I thought I would play along.

I agree, the material for the show has markedly degraded over  the seasons. Most of the shows are quite predictable and boring.

Like most all sit-com series after story lines run out, it is time to go.  The term of reference is "jump the shark". TBBT is getting ready to shut down since the story lines have pretty much come to completion. My prediction of a final group of story closures is Howard will get his PhD for the gyroscope system, Sheldon and Amy will have their big wedding, and Penny will announce that she is pregnant. Not sure what will happen with Raj, but possibly getting the nod from Niel deGrasse Tyson to be the new director of the Hayden Planetarium.

    We'll se

I'm somewhat surprised that TBBT got so many votes, as it's almost universally being panned as going "downhill" - it's often being portrayed as a parody of what scientists do "for dummies". I used to watch it, but I've let that one go many seasons ago.

I was told about a few of the others, but I never really "caught on" - to be honest, TV series aren't exactly the most exciting things in the world ... especially when you could be doing/building something. So I answered "other" - the TV series I do watch are distinctly "non-tech/non-science" because those are the only sort that I can stand to watch. The inaccuracies in many of the tech ones just drive me nuts.

For a limited run I still liked Max Headroom (twenty minutes into the future).

But from the listed choices, I know people just like the Big Bang cast, Star Trek had great stuff in the first series, then had trouble in the second but introduced some great characters, Deep Space was very redeeming but jumped the shark a couple of times. The Doctor has always made for interesting discussions (who's your favorite Dr.) MacGyver, is having a good run in the reboot, first one started becoming how many ways can you make something go boom. Mr. Robot "tell me you are seeing this" what a great acceptance speech.  Wish I could vote for all of them.

    Anyway, I voted...

An old poll but I just spotted it. If you like Star Trek and Family Guy then I can recommend The Orville. It may not have existed when the poll was created.
