Poll: Why Aren't You Part of the RoadTest Group?

The element14 RoadTest Group is one of the popular groups on the element14 Community. It's even popular with our suppliers. RoadTests give any element14 member the opportunity to receive a product at no charge (taxes excluded) and all you have to do in return is write a review of the product. But not every member of the element14 community is a member of the RoadTest group or has taken advantage of the RoadTest experience. Why aren't you part of the RoadTest group? Please vote or leave your comment below.

Sincerely,

Randall Scasny

RoadTest Program Manager

I've applied for road tests for at least 3 years now . I've never been selected for a premium device. There are simply way more candidates for those.

I am part of the group and have submitted a couple plans for road tests although it seems that such premium products cause very low availability. Not that I would be complaining if I got one but I feel that, with a full time job (that is usually 60+ hrs a week), taking an hour or so to write a proposal that has a very low chance of success feels slightly pointless. I will continue doing it but I feel once I have invested too much time I may become discouraged.

    Hi Jan,

I'm glad you and others also apply to review things that others often don't, but actually are interesting when effort is taken to dive into it - but of course I hope you get to review all the devices you want to do.

Reminds me of exploring something that on paper seems pretty uninteresting, a 1GB micro SD card - I had no idea when I started doing the review that it would end up discussing flash memory techniques to avoid data corruption on power failure, and how to read the manufacturer content burned into the cards, and making a data logger.

TI sensor RoadTests were often really interesting to read too, many people managed to find diverse ways of exploring the sensors to show how well they performed.
