New Years Resolutions

COVID has forced me to alter what I do and the way I do it. My original belief was to hunker down and wait it out. Things will return to normal, if I wait long enough. I'm not confident anymore, that the wait and see strategy is going to restore the norm. That leave me with the task of re-defining normal.

Like the child's toy of fitting shapes into defined holes, I'm taking the pieces of the past and seeing if there is a hole it fits, if I need to create a hole that it will fit or to abandon finding a hole and let the piece go.

An important normal is to work with the local school to re-establish the after hours Computer Club. What will the club look like once we return from the virtual world the club has morphed into? The club has gone from eleven students in our self-made physical lab to three online students. The donated computer hardware sits in the basement of the school between abandoned desks, while the school tries to figure out how to just deliver the curriculum. Extra activities like Computer Club for students have been abandoned.

Part of normal, will be to continue to participate in the E14 Community focusing on RoadTest. I also have a strong desire to take on a project in one of the other forums from the community. I have had that desire for a while but never did anything to make it happen. Maybe that is new year stuff.

I'm going talent fishing in order to add some new people to the E14 Community. I'm trying to generate interest that will draw individuals that to the community. The bait, reaching out to people I know and have worked with, with the offer of a partnership on a E14 sponsored project. I champion the project, they participate as they see fit, all the while learning more. Through the partnership experience I hope they will see the value and consider participating in the community.

My E14 and spare time activities are mainly limited by hwo much time work is using.

The next few months look quite busy so it may be hard to do much other than responding to other people.

I'm already commited to judging thre Vibration measuring challenge.

I'm always tempted by RoadTests - the new Keysight electronic load would get me going (or at least applying) if it came up

I've been looking at the TI 430FR2000 series micros (someone mentioned them in the 7400 series logic thread) and I'm

very taken with the idea of a 16 bit micro with 8k prog memory, 2k ram and peripherals for £0.25 ish.

And several other projects on the boil too..........
