There's a World Book Day observed by the United Nations, that's 23rd of April. The UK and Ireland just want to be special and have theirs early.

Wasn't world book day 5th March? At least it was in the UK. (If it's different per country then that makes a mockery of the "world" bit.)

I buy more books and fewer tools these days than I did 5 years ago. I wonder if that's in some way proportional to the lack of bench space on my workbench?

I like books, even ebooks, but I do find that I mostly do not read much anymore, mostly due to poor eyesight. I would try audio books but I'm pretty certain I'd fall asleep within a few minutes.

I had a large collection of technical books when I was a lecturer as publishers would often 'donate' a book to me if I used it with a class. I probably had several hundred. It was part of my retirement plan to write technical books when I retired, but regretfully the internet made that redundant. When I retired I chucked the whole lot into the bin (over several months!) as they were just not needed anymore. Now, I'm glad I did as I just would not have the space to store them and absolutely no need to use them. I did catch several other lecturers 'rescuing' them from the bin and putting them out 'free to take' but nobody really wanted them and eventually they went back into the bin.
