Happy Holidays One and All! What does a Happy Holiday Season mean to You?

To each their own, we have our own element14 Community staff members who are quite happy to treat it as another day, however we all have our own rituals and routines that we do each year in one way or another, so what if any of these are yours for the holiday season?

Or let us know how you wish you were spending the holidays, if you're working, then we still appreciate you image

The holiday season in Australia is a little different from most - scorching heat being one of the key features. In fact, this weekend, we're looking at two days of 41+ degrees C maximums, which is not going to be fun. As a result, if you don't want to have any risk of turning into a lobster with the sunburn and learning a painful lesson, it's best you stay indoors for most of the day where even the air-conditioning sometimes struggles to keep things comfortable.

This year, however, is a little bit different. I've got a few projects going for work that I can't just "stop" working on, so it looks like I'll be playing catch-up over the holiday period. I guess with the COVID-19 pandemic still sweeping the globe, international travel is off, but I suppose I never really wanted to travel in high-season anyway as it's crowded and expensive (generally speaking) even during regular years.

So perhaps things will get done and I will be busier than ever before!

Yes, the tasking gods sense you have free time that they need to fill.

Learn to just say no, not until I get something else done.

Thanksgiving is a perfect type of holiday, no religious overtones, appeals to all nations and races, no politics, just family and friends meeting with good food.

It is funny how the "task  list" magically expands whenever there is some vacation in the wind....image

I might be finally able to get couple weeks holidays this year! After the first lock down (UK), I got so much work to do I can barely keep up with it.  If I can get away with it, my plan is to do absolutely nothing, but I can already see my wife lining up for me some  of the usual "little jobs" to do around the house. Perhaps I will have to turn to some spirit to get through it after all. image

My 90 year old mother is a resident in a locked down care facility 2 hours drive away from me. I have been allowed to see her twice since March!

I am hoping to visit her on Christmas day and to cook a celebration lunch for the 2 of us.

Apart from that I will be relaxing and doing very little.

This's probably what I'll be doing, with the restrictions going on in the UK at the moment in particular - maybe I'll finally build that retro playstation console I started working on...

I have been working so much this year I will be in a position where I am forced to take some vacation.

I will stay home, read some books, work on electronic projects, do a little virtual visiting, cruise around on the element14 forum and stuff my face with food. I hope everyone else can do the same.
