Happy Holidays One and All! What does a Happy Holiday Season mean to You?

To each their own, we have our own element14 Community staff members who are quite happy to treat it as another day, however we all have our own rituals and routines that we do each year in one way or another, so what if any of these are yours for the holiday season?

Or let us know how you wish you were spending the holidays, if you're working, then we still appreciate you image

Happy Holiday Season means after over 11 months and grand plans from last Christmas I'm now panicking to get my festive lights working. This is compounded by (1) not using Git to stage my software changes on both the Rapsberry Pi and the Microchip PIC device  so I had to work out those little changes I made last minute that broke the system (2a) that MPLAB didn't work any longer on my PC (2b) The MCC didn't want to run in MPLAB (3) I didn't label my broken Pickit3 and tried using it (4) I didn't label the RPi3 SPI pins to the PIC Microcontroller so had to work out what I had done and how the level converter worked.

After several late nights this week all is good to go tomorrow, after I've added some heavy duty power connections to the string of WS2812 pixels and I hope the Pi WiFi module works OK at range/through the walls !

And these lights hopefully mean some enjoyment for those walking past on a dark miserable night image

maybe I'll finally build that retro playstation console I started working on...

I look forward to reading about that. My top tip for success would be avoid logging into any streaming service and getting drawn into some unwatched series! Binge watching must be a form of addiction but it also has negative impact on all the other things we plan on doing.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year everyone.

There wont be so much in in person visiting with my elderly mother protected in her senior facility, my out of state kids restricted travel, extended family visits also restricted,

BUT its a great holiday in that the entire family has been blessed with good health and we can visit by phone and PC.

AND just maybe......maybe I get a brief special treat from my wife under the mistletoe.

Best wishes to you and your families for good health in 2021

Thanks, Ralph. I haven't had the luxury of regular zoom calls, but have had fairly regular telephone conversations.

I hope the virus doesn't spread through your mother's care facility, and that she stays safe.

    Plenty to keep me busy.

    Neil

I love this time of year.  The little ones are super excited about the prospect of new toys - so much so that they'll even try to behave better.  And in the process of directing the children, adults realign their focus and start acting more civil.  It's amazing.

The wonder of a child.  Remembering your neighbor.  Buying a present for Angel Tree or Toys for Tots.  The joy of giving.  All good stuff.

I do appreciate that it's not all good for everyone.  I'm going to lean on the belief that anything that makes us a little less selfish and a little more selfless... it's good stuff.

The food ain't bad either. image

Neil, I certainly hope that you get to see your mother.  I have a similar situation, maybe a bit more distance.  My mother is 98 and her assisted living facility in Hawaii is also under lockdown.  Last week, 6 of the residents tested positive for Covid after a direct caregiver had tested positive - so it's worrisome.  I last visited her in March and I left Hawaii the day the quarantine restrictions started.  At least we have Zoom calls every week, so I just spoke with her this morning.

It's good to have projects so that there is something positive to focus on.  Let's pray that next year is a far better year than this one.

What a great list!   I suppose it is a want and not a need but the thermal imager would be fun to have.  As to items not on the list then probably a dual power supply like the AIM-TTI EL302RDEL302RD
