Arduino Engineering Kit Motorcycle

I recently blogged about the Arduino Engineering Kit here on element14. This one is dedicated to the motorcycle project which is part of the kit.

As part of the kit, users learn how to build the motorcycle and design a controller that can balance the motorcycle in place, balance while moving and while turning. This video shows all of that in action.

https://www.element14.com/community/videos/26661/

The most interesting part about this for me is the fact that the motorcycle is leaning in while turning to balance itself. That has got to be one of the most complicated physics concept implemented in real-life using an Arduino image.

Hopefully everyone enjoys this video.

Hi Madhu, Great video, thanks for sharing. I didn't realise Arduino did such a great kit Product Link Product Link Do you know if the flywheel is (1) a servo controlled pendulum, moving left or right accordingly…

The flywheel is controlled by a DC motor and the speed and direction of it is controlled by a PD Controller depending on the angle and angular rate of rotation of the motorcycle itself.

Very cool. This is something that I will need to look into. Thanks for posting. Gene

For those who are interested to learn more about the kit, here is a recent webinar that my colleague Dan and I gave - https://www.mathworks.com/videos/classroom-ready-projects-with-the-new-matlab-and-simulink-based-arduino-engineering-kit-1537279713545.html

    Hi Madhu,

Great video, thanks for sharing. I didn't realise Arduino did such a great kit Product Link Product Link

Do you know if the flywheel is (1) a servo controlled pendulum, moving left or right accordingly like a person leaning left/right on a bicycle or (2) a continuous flywheel rotation - like the gyroscopic action?

(rscasny if you are really pushed for ideas to Roadtest.......or tariq.ahmad needs ideas for a Project14 prize image )
