Arduino with Current Transformer

Hi!

Does anyone has any experience with current transformer with arduino?

I just bought a split core current transformer (SCT-0400-025) from Magnelab and I want to connect to arduino.

According to the datasheet, the input current is 25A and output voltage will be 0.333V. Should i connect any burden resistor? & how should i go about doing it?

Or an active rectifier

As per the datasheet, it already has a burden resistor so does not need an additional one

You will however probably need an op amp to boost the signal as your only going to get 0.333V at full 25A, this limits the ADCs range quite a lot. A 10x amplification would help a lot taking the input to the ADC to 3.33V, you could use more gain to increase output to close to 5V if your using a 5V reference on the ADC, if not then you will have to adjust to align with the ADC full scale.

Also the output of the CT is not DC, it is AC so you will have to sample quite fast to profile the waveform, either that or use a diode and a cap to rectify the signal
