Portlet (the Programmable Outlet controlled by Arduino)

Hi all,

I'm trying to raise some funds for the Portlet project on Kickstarter:

The brain is an Arduino Pro and it's sporting 2 relay controlled outlets, 2 thermocouple inputs, 4 buttons, the reset button, and an LCD screen.

Hey Michael!

All of the low voltage components are on a completely separate PCB from the mains; connected by a cable that only runs 5V. On the high power board there is module that converts 120 VAC to 5 VDC (that module is off the shelf nad has already been UL approved and safety tested; I didn't want to risk designing it myself).

Sorry Peter, that doesn't answer my (intended) question - what I want to know is how the low voltage side gets isolated power from the mains. I couldn't see a transformer anywhere which is why I'm asking.

Solid State Relays where used in the prototypes, I would assume but not guarantee this is continued in the production version
