No power flowing, please help

I am using an Arduino ADK with a motor control plugin (the thing with several pins that sits on top of the Arduino board), and I have the arduino connected to a PS3 controller via bluetooth.  I am sure that that part is working properly.  However, when I connect a battery to the plugin and then connect a DC motor on the other end, I find that the controller does not do anything.  Further looking into it, I checked both ends with a meter.  The battery was putting out 20.2 V, whereas the receiving end with the motor measured at 0.  I have two of the boards and it is doing it on both of them.  Did I not do something that I should have?  Any help at all would be appreciated, as I need to get this working for a robotics competition in a few months.  Thanks.

Hi Tyler, Can you supply the information below, and specifically mention what battery you're using, and exactly what/where you're probing (mark it on a diagram or photo) to see your 0V measurement. As…

It might help if you flip the motor shield over.  There's frequently manufacturer and model info on the underside of the PCB.

I've turned your picture round and looked at the motor drive, which actually looks like an H Bridge.

What does it say up at the top right? PM-2 and something under that. Is there any clue as to the manufacturer?

    Where did you buy it?

Unfortunately it doesn't give a lot of other info.

It seems that there is no code supplied by the OP .... maybe that is the issue.

It is currently at my school.  I should have all the information you need tomorrow around 10-11am EST.  As for what it says  beneath the PM2, it says BDG. Hope that helps.  We bought it off some guy that builds the set-up specifically for PS3 controller use.  I'll ask my robotics team teacher.

    Hi Tyler

    Contact_Us

This is a guess...The board looks like an H-Bridge and the reason you have no output is because the software is not switching the Bridge.

This is not a guess....You will need all the details of the board to design the switching sequence.

I talked with my robotics teacher.  He said that this is where we got the H bridge from:  BotsIQ – PiMios  I hope this can help.

    Hi Tyler,

You can see that the web page contains nothing except a photo.

You need to reach out to the manufacturer or supplier (this is what your teacher expects if he has not supplied any more detail - and besides is the only thing to do

when you don't have sufficient information about a product), and obtain some documentation (schematic, user guide or datasheet and example code,

since it is intended for an Arduino).

They should be able to supply you with that bundle of information.

It also states 'open source' so that means they should be able to supply the entire information mentioned, not just a datasheet.

My apologies.  I have contacted BDG and PiMios.  Once I get a response, I'll post here.  Thanks so much for continuing to attempt to help me despite the hassle I cause.

    Hi Tyler,

No worries. If you've not done it before it can be a new thing to talk to businesses in detail about their products. Hopefully you'll hear back soon.
