@Brendan Your video is somewhat adequate for the intended purpose, however, from an engineer's point of view it is lacking in providing pertinent facts. Such as the part number, data sheet, and source…

Jeremy, thanks for your intro videos. I am just getting started myself in Arduino though I have done some simple electronics projects using Atmel chips. Here is an example using ATTiny13 chips. www.youtube…

Hi Jeremy I've built a device (see picture) with an Arduino and Ethernet shield that connects to our Network Monitor (Nagios) and moves an arrow to indicate if any of the computers we monitor are not responding…

It's likely possible, but you'll need to use a scope or a logic analyzer to reverse engineer the control signal for the lcd.

Yes, send data to the computer via serial, and use just about any programming language on the computer to interpret it and generate video.

The most populare seems to be Eagle Cad, http://cadsoftusa.com/ which is free download.

    I prefer Pad2Pad however - http://www.pad2pad.com/

I have not tried Pad2Pad, but Eagle CAD is very good. It also works on Macs as well as Windows.

IMHO, its also very strange to use. It doesn't really obey any of the mouse / menu / drawing conventions that we are so used to on our PCs. So, buy a book about it and accept that it will take a good few hours of not doing anything productive with it, before you understand what's going on.

    Si.

I use eagle cad, and agree that the interface can be a little weird.  Sparkfun has some excellent tutorials on using it though.  http://www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/109

Hi Jeremy, what IC's would you recommend for novices needing multiplexing/demultiplexing? I'm only after 8 lines the now but expandability would be nice.

Also, I was reading the datasheet for the 74AC138 decoder/demultiplexor. It says it "can be used as an 8-output demultiplexer by using one of the active LOW Enable inputs as the data input and the other Enable
inputs as strobes." Can you clarify what it means by strobes? Thanks.

If I want to import some external signal on the built-in DFIG model in simulink(Phasor Simulation of a Wind Farm Using Doubly-Fed Induction Generator Wind Turbines). such as other generators (call generator A)  of the rotation speed (wr),the value should be put 1pu ..However, in the dfig (only connect to the oscilloscope in DFIG), signal value, become 0pu, also, it affects the rotor speed of generator A, the speed becomes to 0 pu , if i disconnect the connnection of DFIG,, then the rotor speed in generator A will return to 1pu. DFIG model block/absort the signal ? or what?. please help. Thank you.

    Hello,

thank you for your interesting and very useful tutorials especually for the beginners like me.

    I got a question: Have you ever used Arduino with Max/MSP(or Arduino + Processing + Max/Msp/Jitter )?

If yes, then could you upload some of the examples? I would love to see it in one of your next tutorials.

    Thank you!
