Heart Spark: An Arduino-based Valentine <3

Howdy -
Happy Valentine's Day!  I wanted to point out an awesome Arduino-based project that was designed with CadSoft EAGLE - the Heart Spark:
http://sensebridge.net/projects/heart-spark/
It's an Open Source heart rate monitor created by Sensebridge, a group of smart hackerspace folks from Noisebridge in SF and hacklab.to in Toronto.
I ordered one last month, and it's fantastic.
Cheers,
Drew

Nice!  I've been exercising quite a bit lately, and I wear a heartrate transmitter/monitor.  I use the Nike brand, but I think they all use the same frequency.  The machines at my gym interface with/recieve both the Nike that I wear and the Polar brand transmitters.  I've been thinking about what I could do with the data it sends, but didn't know where to start.  I see this project uses a Polar reciever module, and that Sparkfun carries it.  http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8660

    Howdy Brad,

Yeah, my girlfriend looked at the BOM after I gave her the Heart Spark and was excited that the Polar module is available, too.  The beta logging Heart Spark wasn't available when I ordered and I got the epoxy finish so upgrading to logging functionality with EEPROM isn't really viable.  Since she has the chest strap now, she is thinking about building out the logging Heart Spark version hardware on breadboard so she can record data during hot yoga.

The chip opens up a lot of possibilities.  Here's a cool application someone did:
