Arduino Motorized Persistence of Vision (POV)

simon.monk

A motorized persistence of vision display using an Arduino, RGB LEDs and a motor.

One of the projects in the book '15 Dangerously Mad Projects for the Evil Genius' (http://www.dangerouslymad.com)

Very cool! RGB is a nice touch and the platform looks well constructed & balanced. Did you use a hall effect sensor to sync?

Is the new book out now?

    Cheers,

    Drew

Thanks Drew, no the motor is open loop, you just adjust the speed manually. Which allows you to set the letters to rotate or stand still as you prefer.

And yes, the new book is out now with all good booksellers. More details here: http://www.dangerouslymad.com

The open loop motor control is an interesting idea.  I'll have to try that.

Just ordered your book on Amazon! image

    Cheers,

    Drew

Thanks Drew, I have to say that project was particularly fun to build.

Just a hint, but if you can make a pcb and get the LEDs close together than where they are on the stripboard, then it would work be better.

    Enjoy.

    Si.
