Need to meassure Water temp, Oil preassure and rpm of an old car engine

Hello everyone:

I am new to Arduino and I decided to start a Project measuring water temperature, oil pressure and rpms out of an old car engine, I want to storage that data and create a graphics in order to see its behavior. The second phase of this project would be to storage the data and extract it through a USB.

I was able to create the proper connections as shown in diagram

I am able to get the readings from both sensors but if I start to increment the temperature the oil pressure starts to change, I wish someone can help and guide me. I am not sure why I am getting these readings. I don’t know if the voltage on the oil preassure is too low or it need a reference or I am doing something wrong.

Any help is very well appreciate it.

  • I'm not sure I fully understand how the sensors and analog meters are connected up. Is each meter effectively in series with its corresponding sensor, across the 12v supply?

     

    When you say the oil pressure changes as you increase the temperature, do you mean the oil pressure reading on the analog meter, or do you mean the voltage representing oil pressure, as captured by the arduino, or both?
