Well after watching Mr. Blum on youtube for about two hours straight, I decided to go down to RadioShack and pick up an Uno. I am sitting here several hours later with a huge smile on my face. They had the Paralax setup next to it for five more dollars. I decided I was better off with the training wheels until I get the hang of this.
I just wanted to say thank you for adding those tutorials on youtube. That helped get me going. I managed to get through the switch and LED tutorials with mostly no issues other than the fact that I had no switches in the house that weren't being used. I'll have to pick some up. I just used a 100k pot and made believe it was a switch.
It worked well enough.
I have been hardware bashing on amplifiers, effects pedals and analog circuits for most of my life. I decided that my first Arduino will be used as a test bed for all the projects that I have been dreaming about for the last ten years. First thing. I need a CNC machine. I am so tired of all the extra work involved with etching my PCBs and I am more tired of waiting six months for the low rent houses to get around to it. This is where my first question comes in.
Is it possible for me to use the UNO for 3 axis control with the easy stepper drivers? From what I have been reading, it should be.
Second question. Is there a definative POV display library that is accepted or are most people just writing what seems to work? I am fairly certain I could get a basic 7 led display going. I have seen some crazy awesome stuff in that area but have found no real heavy discussion of how to add things like images and animation. My justification for spending money on this toy was showing my wife the videos of the POV clocks on youtube. I know I said the CNC was first but... I am not really the boss you see.
Thank you all again.
