Information/Advice in Arduino, for Beginners

Hi guys,

I have been looking around the discussion boards, for any information and advice for beginners that are just starting out in this field. However, i felt overwhelmed and lost at the same time. I was hoping to find information, like what boards there are or what shields to get, for someone who is interested in the system.

Hopefully the people posting in this thread will help anyone who are interested in starting to experiment with the arduino foundation.

For a basic and helpful book for arduino and electronic "Getting started with Arduino" from Massimo Banzi (one of the Arduino fonder) and for a realy big shield listing http://shieldlist.org/ but no lot of information you nead to surf on the brand web site after you find the right shiels
