Tis the season... to giveaway a Mega ADK

fustini

Howdy - I was tidying up my part bins at home this past weekend and realized I have an Arduino Mega ADK for Android that I've never used.

image

I'm not sure when I'll ever get around to using it, so I figured I'd find it a new home with someone here.

image

I will send the ADK for free to the first person located in the United States that replies to this post including both:

1) photo or screenshot of Arduino IDE running on your computer (you don't need an Arduino to do this)

and

2) photo of your Android device

(sorry to restrict this to just the US, but since I'm just doing this personally and live in the US, I want to keep shipping simple)

Cheers,

Drew

Hi Gordon - congrats, you were the first to meet all the criteria.  I've just sent you a request to become contacts, so I can private message you.

Merry Christmas, Drew.  Since you are celebrating, I was wondering if you happen to have any Microchip PIC paraphernalia that you may not need.  I promise to give it a good home.  I have recently purchased two books by Myka Predko.  As my soldering skills are some what lacking,  I could really make use of a PICKIT 1 Starter Kit for the material in the books: "123 PIC Microcontroller Experiments for the Evil Genius"  and " Programming and Customizing the PIC Microcontroller."  I have also managed to purchase a variety of PIC chips, 5 different ones for a total of 30 chips.  My intent is to help Middle School kids and up with getting into Mechatronics.  I made a poster to get them thinking about it.

I am thinking that Parallax's BasicStamp is a workable substitute for the PICAXE but am not certain of it.

Hi - I've not used PICs in a couple years, but I might be able to help out.  I'll send you a PM.

    Thanks for sharing, Drew.

I have a little tidbit I want to share with the folks here on e14.  Elektor magazine has been running a series of solid tutorials on advanced applications called the "Arduino on Course."  In the Nov 2012 and Dec 2012 issues, lessons 3a and 3b spill the beans on Android and Arduino interfacing.  An interesting fact is that you can get started with just an UNO w/USB host shield and Android phone with Android OS 2.3.4 or newer.  The advantage that the Mega ADK has is the USB host interface is built in and therefore does not need a shield to provide that feature.

I received my free copies of Elektor Magazine from Pololu.com with a small order of parts.  Look for the coupon codes on their web site.
