how to control hacked hitec servo with arduino ?

Hi,

 

I recently replaced POT with 2x2.4K resisters in Hitec HS311 servo, it is now rotating 360 deg., but when I am trying to control the servo like rotate forward / backward or rotate to certain angle like 45deg. its not doing anymore, my code is working fine on other unmodified same HIitec servos... 

 

Is anyone have any suggestion or answers... I really appreciate your answers..

    The pot is the position reference so if all you have done is replaced it with two fixed resistors the servo control chip will think it is at a fixed position. Depending on the pulse width input it will drive one way or the other depending on whether the pulse width signifies the required position is one side or the other of the aprroximately mid position that you have set with the two resistors. A continuous train of pulses will result in continuous rotation, a single pulse will result in  just a short kick from the motor with posibly no movement at all. Essentially you now have just a geared motor which can drive in both directions. Some- possibly most- servos have mechanical stops so will only travel to one stop or the other, continuous rotation is not possible.

    thanks for your reply, I totallly agree with you, what is the best motor/servo, to create a robot to control from arduino, like moving forward/backward and stop using sensors... ?

    My interest is strictly limited to radio control model applications, I know nothing about robotics. I think that there are other sites dedicated to robotics which may be able to help you more than I can.
