New Member"hello"

hello my name is justin im new to this site and i would like to start a project to understand how led lighting and micro controllers. I am interested in the led cube. Does anyone have advice for me on what to get for a beginner..mabe a kit or somthing ty.

Hi Justin,

For beginners, the Arduino Uno is a great starting point.

I always recommend the open source Oomlout tutorial to get started, as it covers a lot of components and basic techniques: http://www.oomlout.com/a/products/ardx/

You don't have to buy the kit - all the parts for that tutorial can be bought separately. A kit does save you time and effort though. If all you are interested in is the LED cube, you could probably just buy an Arduino Uno and a bunch of LEDs and then follow one of the available Instructables: http://www.instructables.com/tag/type-id/featured-true/?sort=none&q=arduino+led+cube

Arduino.cc has a Getting Started Guide that will help you get the software installed.
