Debugging the SPI bus - when components won't share

sketchy

I wrote a post on my experiences debugging the SPI bus.  I learned a lot and thought perhaps this stuff might help others http://bitknitting.wordpress.com/2013/12/02/debugging-the-spi-bus-when-components-wont-share/

I loved reading your blog; it brought back memories of debugging stuff when logic analysers etc were in their infancy (don't ask how long ago!). Congratulations on your persistence!

    Best wishes

    Hey Neil,

Thank you for your kind words.  I admire you "back in the day" experience!   I wish I could find a mentor who I could meet every once and awhile and go through where I am and the challenges such as I wrote about.  Similar to a tutor I get for my daughter to help (and give her confidence) in math.... I feel I could learn electronics a lot faster.

    Hey Neil,

That would be terrific!  I am thinking perhaps later this week or next -

once I have time to get up to speed using the scope that should be here

later this week along with the level shifter.  The intent is to understand

voltage shifting between arduino and breadboards.  I might be able to

tackle this on my own.  But I definitely will take you up on a chat if I

get frustrated.  By frustrated, I probably could figure it out but it would

take a week.  But I am getting much older.  Time is getting more valuable

    at this point :-).....

I also wish to take my prototype hydroponics sensor node  (

    http://bitknitting.wordpress.com/2013/11/29/hydroponics-sensor-data-to-base-system-then-into-excel/

    )

to a pcb as an exercise to creating a pcb and then figure out the outer

case...i've been playing around with kicad.  But that is the simple part.

I am not sure of getting the circuit straight and part purchasing when I

just need the chip and not the breakout which is all thought through by the

great folks at adafruit and sparkfun...

    Hi Margaret

WOW!  You've taken on and solved some pretty impressive issues in this hydroponics sensor node project.

I'm going to say thanks on behalf of the whole Element 14 Arduino community, for providing us with some superb examples to pick up and follow.

    Best wishes
