Linear Technology launches Linduino

fustini
fustini over 12 years ago

Jim Hayden informed me of the Linduino from Linear Technology today:

Linduino is a clone of the Arduino Uno with a USB issolator and an connector that allows to interface to their development kits.  The other part is they've developed example code that is compatible with the Arduino IDE.  They're intention is to make a prototyping platform that will make it easier for their customer's to develop firmware for their programable power monitoring and data converter product lines

He gave me some resources including the video below which I watched:

  • Intro Video: http://www.linear.com/solutions/4432
  • Product homepage: http://www.linear.com/solutions/linduino
  • Design files, manual, schematic:  http://www.linear.com/search/search.php?q=DC2026A

What do folks think?  Will this be useful in your prototyping process?

Thanks,

Drew

It's not  bad idea but such a shame that it's based on an 8 bit processor - that's just so last century !!!

The best bit on the board is the LTM2884, the USB isolator, but this doesn't exist as an official LT part that you can actually buy - so I'm afraid the Linduino gets the thumbs down from me for not using an ARM processor and also for being based on a nice, but not for sale, part.

(If it used an ARM it wouldn't cost much more (possibly no more) but would have much greater cross manufacturer code portability and a great deal more processing power.)
