Paperduino: How to Print a Paper Arduino

Now this is nifty! "We used Circuit Scribe and the Silhouette Cameo Pen Plotter to print an Arduino on paper!"

 

 

The creators are current doing a KickStarter:

Circuit Scribe is a rollerball pen that writes with conductive silver ink. It makes creating circuits as easy as doodling.

  • It's very cool indeed, except for the fact that they used Eagle for making open source hardware, and they even noted that the cost-free version of Eagle has a size restriction, so it's not very clever starting down that proprietary path and storing up trouble for the future after one has become attached to the software.  kiCad would be perfect for this.

     

    3D printers are more common than pen plotters, so I expect the pen will get tried by RepRappers a lot.  I'll be very interested in how the electrical characteristics and longevity of the tracks turn out in practice.  It's a bit of a holy grail to print your own PCBs without the need to etch, so I'm sure that lots of people are keeping an eye on this.
