Arduino & Processing (Need Help)

Hello everyone at element 14,

I am new to the Arduino and was looking for some help. I recently purchased a Arduino Uno to build some cool projects. I want to use my Xbox 360 controller to control a RC car, i looked around and found that i need processing and of course the normal Arduino software, so i downloaded them both but still not sure how to integrate them or how to make my controller work on processing. What else do i need ? i was also hoping that after this project i could use my controller to drive servos in a robotic arm. Any help our suggestions would be much appreciated, bare with me i am new to the whole programming micro controllers part.

Thanks.

You need the Arduino software to program the Arduino. Processing is used in some of the tutorials to communicate with the Arduino, it is not necessary to download it separately. Once you have the software extract it somewhere on your hdd. If you are on Windows you will have to install the drivers for the board. Plug it in. When prompted choose the directory you extracted the Arduino software to, you will see a sub directory drivers. Launch the Arduino software. Select the port your Arduino is connected to, it will show up as a com port. At that point you can load the examples, modify them and test. This information is better detailed on the Arduino homepage.
