Hi,

I'm new here, found out about this site by watching the Ben Heck show.

I work as an HVAC technician in Boston, and haven't worked on electronics since I was in high school 25 years ago.

What got me here now is a project that I'm making for my brother. But what actually made me decide to tackle that was my interest in building my own bartop arcade.

I had to re-familiarize myself with DC voltage when wiring up the buttons, I'm used to working strictly with AC voltage for the past 25 years, it was good to get back to what I tried to learn in 25 years ago.

My older brother is a quadriplegic and I wanted to build him a mouth controller for his PC and xbox 360, by hacking a wired 360 controller. I have someone doing the soldering on the xbox 360 controller board and he is running the wires to a terminal strip, I'm building the mouth controller with all the buttons and analog sticks etc. I tried to solder myself, but the D-pad solder points are tiny! all the other ones I could do, but I ruined the board after a failed attempt at those D-pad connection. lol!

While watching videos of hacking xbox 360 controllers, I found videos on those "Arduino" boards. This really caught my interest, since I'm always trying to create things.

I'm going to try to learn how the Arduino boards work and if I can somewhat understand them, I'll start to make my own projects.

I'm starting from scratch, but hope to get more knowledgeable and hopefully can someday make things that can help out my brother.

btw, not sure if this gets posted in the proper thread.
