Vote in three minutes!

No more long queues at polling stations. I am doing a project on voting using a cell phone with a cell phone based voting machine using micro controller AT89S51. I am stuck at writing a code for this project.

if you must use 8051 you should look at this C8051F12x/3x 8-bit Microcontroller (MCU) | Silicon Labs

My initial question is why this micro-controller

It is an industry standard sure but very limited for something like your attempting, more IO than you need and probably way less Program and Ram space than you will need

I would suggest an Arduino UNO or higher Arduino or if you making a custom board, an ATMEGA 328 (Uno can be the development platform, then unplug the chip into your own custom board if needed

You can use the free IDE/Compiler and it is programed in standard C. You should still be able to interface to all your peripherals without an issue and there are loads of people in the community who will be able to help

there are also plenty of shields to provide internet access and other functionality with ready made libraries for your consumption

If your new at this, perhaps you should consider this walk before you run approach and it has the FLASH memory for program, EEPROM for storing variables and SRAM for the run time way in excess of the 8051 based micro you mention

    328 has

    32K FLASH Program Space

    2K SRAM

    1K eeprom

    at89s51

    4K FLASH (Program Space)

    128bytes ram

    no eeprom
