Ok so i am working on a project for my father. He is a guitarist, and i wish to build something small, that i can attach to his electric guitar, with momentary switches\buttons (around 4 of them, but ma-by more in the future) that will wirelessly control some servos. I am thinking optical is not an option because he may not be facing the receiver all the time. I figure the maximum distance would be around 10 feet, but on average 3-5 ft.
Here are some of my goals:
- Battery power-able. So it can be in a sleep mode often
- Reasonably small sending unit, (and arduino with a shield, or at least a flat layout.) Better yet, an arduino DIP that i can use on a board solo after programming.
- Fairly rugged as the sending unit will be on a guitar being played.
The fact is, i don't no much about sending data wireless.
The receiving unit can be larger, and powered. I just don't know If RF is an option, i don't think WiFi is. as i don't want to haft to set up a network and router and stuff, i just kinda need this plug and play. All i need it to do is.
Switch A press on.... off...
Switch B press on.....off...
Etc.
Just press to turn on than press again to turn off.
The wireless part is what has me stumped.
Any advice would be appreciated.
