Social Xmas Tree

max.dbt
max.dbt over 10 years ago

Finally I'm working on the kit received and I have the final concept for my IoT holiday lights projects.

After a long brainstorming with my students and friend we focused on creating something that will help people stay together, having fun (that is one of the nicest part of Xmas) but that should also have a personality.

We decided to make a Social Xmas Tree!

Our tree (you can see his picture) is happy when people are around him having fun. And it  wants to share with others its joy.

It has a profile on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008703930280

He will have a camera connected with an Arduino Yun and, using Temboo, he can share on Facebook the pictures people decide to shoot when they are in front of it. Here Arduino Yún social photo camera | MIKAMAYHEM there is a good tutorial about it. (actually I'm at this point of development)

I'm still not sure about the interaction to shoot but I want something that you should do with someone else. The options are:

- people touch something on the tree and then the camera shoot when they touch each other (they close a circuit or with capacitive sensing);

- people have to jump at the same time

When someone put a like on the picture then the led will change color. Many likes mean a brighter color!

I want to put other sensors to give the tree other behavior.

A distance sensor and a microphone to detect if there are people around. If it is left alone for a long time it will complain on Facebook.

Then a mat to detect gifts. It will be happy with many gifts.

Other suggestions? image Which led strips du you suggest me?
