Hi Everyone,
A few weeks ago I sponsored a Kick Starter project for a precisely adjustable DC Power Supply known as the VoltWerks VW0.
Well, today I received it and I am already putting it to good use
The photo shows the VoltWerks unit powering up my recent acquisition, an ESP8266 module (tiny low-cost serial port Wi-Fi module).
The Power Supply is still available to order from the creator website Revely.
This is a small, convenient and low cost solution to power up your Arduino-based projects
I have a Leonardo board clone, it does include a 3.3 Volts supply but the output current from its on-board regulator is limited to 100mA.
This is even worse on the original Leonardo board as the regulator is limited to 50 mA I believe.
So this little bench supply comes in handy.
The photo shows the VoltWerks unit taking its power source from a USB cable connected to my PC.
The VoltWerks unit is powering up the Wi-Fi module which needs up to 200 mA at 3.3 Volts.
You can swap the USB cable for a recycled DC charger of up to 16V (you know, one of these charger "bricks" you forgot what it was supposed to charge...).
In this configuration, the VoltWerks unit may provide up to 2A of output current.
The output voltage is adjustable from 0.8 to 10 Volts.
I have yet to put the Power Supply to the test...
A few additional features are built into the VW0, please check out the Revely's website for details.
There is another more advanced version, the VW1, which includes load curent and output voltage displays.
Happy New Year everyone,
Joffrey
